Yes, this appendix was made solely to show how to combine fire and air crucibles because they pointed in the same way. Since earth points in the opposite direction, carry on as normal.

So, for cooling purposes... Water within earth would be cooling with precision, then earth within water would cool rapidly perhaps?

Yes, or you could move the focus of the crucible into the cold region of the circle... I really should have finished this tutorial series before I quit.
